I was hoping perhaps you might have some suggestions. Walck, 1959, c1948) "Amos thought he had captured the moon but the next morning it had vanished--so he went searching for it." This would be an excellent resource for teachers. There was another book in the series I'd also like to find, of "suspense" or "spooky" stories, including one of a blind man recruited to listen for the footsteps of an invisible demon that persistently chased a cursed man.

The same characters appear in some other Joan Aiken collections as well, but I think this is the only book devoted to them. So it's worth repeating from time to time, as I try to do here, that there are a great many mysteries that are appropriate for kids and are also a great deal of fun to read. Seeger, Pete, Abiyoyo,(song, 1963), book 1986. It was written by Catherine Storr and she wrote a sequel as well, called Mark and Marianne. There are mysteries set in different time periods and locations that bring in history and geography.

Perhaps, it is Elizabeth and her German Garden, the first book by Marie Annette Beauchamp--known all her life as "Elizabeth", originally published in 1898. I wanted to let you know that stumper O80 has been solved. Zygier’s cell was under constant video surveillance, and reports indicate that his body was bruised. I think the magician was there to put on a show. She writes a book blog, and tweets as @bookloverJo Dotty Detective is about a girl called Dot and a dog called McClusky. This is a more plausible solution here than Stone Soup. The Earth is in bad shape so nothing grows naturally, the seas are full of redtides, and the air quality is poor. There's a lot that I want to get right, and a lot that I know I could get very wrong. I'm not sure of this, but it reminds me of what I remember of Mystery of the Haunted Pool. It concerns a book and its sequel about a big family with lots of children. She (his mother) was also very eccentric, and would dress up in jail clothes and hand cuffs if she felt she was doing too much house work. My older brother (b. 1947) remembers this book too. R8 is definetely The Magician's Nephew. The book G5 isn't remotely like The Magician's Nephew.
